Karen Zell
Karen is no stranger to Otter Tail County. As a child, she spent her summers at the family cabin on West Battle Lake and still owns a lake lot there today.
After graduating from St. Olaf College in 1984, Karen spent the summer in Otter Tail County where she worked at the Graystone Lodge on Otter Tail Lake.
In September of 1984, Karen moved to the Twin Cities and began a 10 year career with Arby’s in new store development. Karen was responsible for hiring and training 25 new Arby’s restaurants throughout the state of Minnesota.
Throughout her 10 years in the Twin Cities, Karen kept returning to Otter Tail County to vacation and visit family. Karen moved back to Otter Tail County in 1994, this time to PURCHASE the Graystone.
Great and exciting changes took place at the Graystone: Many re-models, new menu items, and many great friendships, both with employees and customers.
With more and more of Karen’s interests in homes, she decided her next career should be in real estate. Working different hours, working one on one with a variety of people and working with houses were nothing new to her. In January 2008 Karen and her husband sold the Graystone. Karen has always had an interest in staging, i.e. getting a home ready for sale, so for the past few winters she has helped countless people get their homes sold.
Attributes: familiarity with the area and many people, out-going, hard-working, flexible, honest and dependable, not afraid to work to get the job done, has been in the “people-pleasing” business all her life, her mentor is a top producer and veteran Realtor for 30 years. If she doesn’t know the answers, she has the resources to find them!
