Moorhead Real Estate Market

The Moorhead real estate market consists of multi-story and ranch-style homes. Homes in the area are built on large lots to maximize the front and back yard area. Elements of brick, metal, stone, and stucco are used to build the various homes in the area. The elements used provide an excellent complement to both the professional and natural landscaping.

The interior design of these homes showcase a wonderful mixture of hardwood flooring, tile flooring, and carpeting in various areas of the homes. Hardwood can be found throughout the living rooms and hallways, while the tile and carpeting can be found in the kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms respectively. In addition to the gorgeous tile flooring in the kitchen, there is also fresh granite countertops, and new stainless steel appliances.

Moorhead is a city that continues to grow and encourages business and real estate development. Residential Moorhead properties start at $50,000 for small condos and houses and go up to $900,000 for a large home with luxurious finishing, river views, or acreage. Moorhead Community Highlights

Moorhead homes are located in the energetic “gate” to the woods and the lakes of Minnesota and to the prairies of North Dakota. It is the largest city in northwest Minnesota and is bordered on east by the city of Dilworth and bordered by the west by the Red River and the city of Fargo, North Dakota. Together these communities make up the core of the Fargo-Moorhead metropolitan area, which has a population around 209,000 residents. The county seat of Clay County, Moorhead itself is considered both progressive and neighborly with a culturally diverse community.

Throughout Moorhead there is a park system made up of over 40 regional, community, and neighborhood parks which contain either playgrounds, walking trails, or open area space for everyone’s enjoyment.

There are also a number of golf courses within Moorhead, or slightly outside of the neighborhood. The following courses are located in the Moorhead area:

  • The Meadows
  • Moorhead Country Club
  • El Zegal Par 3 Golf Course
  • Fargo Country Club

These courses offer a variety of difficulty tailored to all skill levels. The Fargo Country Club borders the west of Moorhead and the east of Fargo.

Attractions in Moorhead

Moorhead properties are conveniently located to the revitalized downtown district, riverside parks and many ways to take in the arts. The Rourke Art Gallery, Rourke Art Museum, Blue Stem Center for the Arts and Trollwood Performing Arts School are just a few art institutions the city is known for. One of the most well known attractions is the Hjemkomst Center, which houses a re-creation of a Viking ship and a Stave Church; a traditional Norwegian-style church serving as a symbol of the Norwegian heritage in the Red River Valley. In the lower part of the Hjemkomst Center the Clay County Historical Society offers a free museum housing over 30,000 artifacts relating to the history of Clay County.

Moorhead can offer entertainment in the summer and winter. Moorhead Parks and Recreation has over 50 park scattered throughout the city. Many include playground equipment, green space and bike trails. Others feature tennis and basketball courts, soccer and baseball fields, disk golf courses, wading pools, skating rinks and even groomed cross-country ski trails. Besides the parks the city has a Municipal Pool and two golf courses; The Meadows and Village Green, which offer a challenge for golfers of all skill levels, as well as meeting and banquet space. The Moorhead Sports Center has two sheets of indoor ice for hockey and figure skating. Moorhead is also part of the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks which is an independent professional baseball team of the Northern League, which play at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo.

Moorhead School Information

Buyers interested in Moorhead homes will be pleased to know that the area offers a lifetime of learning, featuring public and private schools plus many higher education opportunities. In the Moorhead K-12 School District alone, there are five public schools serving over 2,500 students.
