Ben H. Nelson, ABR, ABRM, CRS, Associate Broker
Ben began his real estate career in 1985 and, in 1992, he became a broker and purchased the real estate brokerage firm where he had worked as an agent. That same year, Ben was voted the 1992 REALTOR® of the Year by the Lake Region Association of REALTORS®. He served as a director for ten years, both local and state, and acted as president of the local association for two terms.
Ben traveled to Memphis, Tennessee, in 1993 where he attended a course sponsored by the Buyer Broker Institute. He attended this course in order to gain knowledge on buyer agency and to become a Certified Buyer's Agent. Then, in 1994, Ben went to a real estate management course in Denver, Colorado to expand his expertise in real estate brokerage. Shortly thereafter, he purchased a real estate brokerage franchise office.
Ben was awarded the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designation in 1995. This certification is the equivalent of a PhD in the real estate industry. In 1996, he attended Agency Law Training (Train-the-Trainer) in Minneapolis, which enabled him to teach agency law to other real estate agents.
Continuing his education, Ben was awarded the Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR) designation in Minneapolis in 1998 and, in 1999, he received the Accredited Buyers Representative Manager (ABRM) designation.
At this point, Ben chose to shift his career in a way that focused on the quality of service he provides to his clients versus the number of sales he makes. He knows that better service requires more time and, as part of his plan to focus more on his clients, Ben closed his real estate brokerage office in 2002 and merged with CENTURY 21® Vista.
Ben is very happy with his choice. He currently works in the Fergus Falls office where he is able to put his experience and education to work for you.
In his spare time, Ben spends time with his family and cares for his own lakeshore property. He enjoys sporting, such as hunting and walleye fishing, and watching football.
